AB2 - ACOUSTIC BOARD (SMOKED OAK)
Wooden slat acoustic panel in Smoked Oak veneer on black felt backing. 2400 × 600 × 22 mm — covers 1.44 m² per panel.
Description
Overview
The AB2 Acoustic Board is a decorative wooden slat panel designed to absorb sound and elevate the look of any interior. Vertical slats of MDF with real Smoked Oak veneer are pre-mounted onto a 9 mm polyester acoustic felt backing in black, giving you a finished panel that's ready to cut, fit, and install.
Each panel covers 1.44 m² and works equally well on walls or ceilings — as a feature wall, an accent behind a bed or sofa, a meeting room backdrop, or a full-height architectural treatment.
Why AB2
- Real sound absorption. The 9 mm porous polyester felt reduces echo and reverberation in rooms with hard surfaces — useful for offices, bedrooms, living rooms, home theatres, and recording spaces.
- Real wood veneer, not print. Smoked Oak veneer on MDF slats gives natural grain and depth that printed finishes can't match.
- Cut to fit on site. Trim the felt lengthways with a craft knife, or cut slats widthways with a fine-tooth saw. Work around switches, outlets, and skirting without special tools.
- Three installation methods — adhesive, direct screws, or timber battens (see below).
- Certified materials. FSC-accredited timber, E1 formaldehyde emission (EN 13986:2004+A1:2015), and a B-s1, d0 fire rating on the PET backing.
Where to use it
- Feature walls in living rooms, bedrooms, and entryways
- Office meeting rooms, studios, and co-working spaces
- Hotel lobbies, restaurants, and retail fit-outs
- Home theatres, podcast booths, and music rooms
- Ceiling accents and coffered ceiling treatments
Installation
Each panel weighs 11.2 kg. Three options depending on your wall and finish:
- Adhesive (direct). Dab construction adhesive across the back of the panel, press to the wall, hold until set. Fastest method, suitable for flat, clean surfaces.
- Screws (direct). A minimum of 9 screws per panel through the felt, spaced roughly 200 mm across and 800 mm down. Use black screws to blend with the felt backing.
- Timber battens. Fix 45 mm timber battens to the wall first, then screw panels into the battens through the felt. Add RockWool between battens for maximum sound absorption — this method gives the best acoustic result.
For ceiling installation, always fix into joists and use fixings rated for the wall or ceiling material.
Care & handling
Store panels flat and indoors until installation, and avoid excessive moisture. Inspect each panel for colour variation, grain differences, or shipping damage before installing — once panels are mounted, claims cannot be accepted. After installation, wipe lightly with a dry cloth to remove dust.
